Connect with your eyes

Nowadays, everywhere you look, you will find people with their eyes glued to a screen. But the technology that allows us to carry the world in the palm of our hands, is all too often the same technology that distances us from the real world.

“999 LOOKS” is an exhibition born of a simple idea: to create eye contact.  All 999 images were taken in public spaces, with ordinary people without any form of makeup.  The only rule: look directly at the camera. The technique used: split light.

Why?

Because with the split light technique, it’s possible to create a well-defined area of shade. Conceptually, the idea is to show what we can see and what we are unable to see. Everyone has their secrets, a side that no one else can see.

As 999 is a number that seems  ‘imperfect’, it represents incompleteness and the idea that we can always go beyond – that we can search further and learn more. Or simply admit that perfection is just an illusion.
