I don’t usually ask for directions, but I have no problem asking for help. And that’s exactly what I needed about two and a half years ago when something I never imagined happened—I found myself dealing with depression and anxiety.
Me? A Gen Z, Latin American guy, raised under the belief that “men don’t cry.” But we do. We struggle, we feel anxious, we break down.
Seeking help, first through medication, then through therapy, I joined a CBT-based group therapy. Instead of focusing on specific issues, the work was about understanding our thought patterns.
At the same time, I had already been practicing mindfulness, and when I combined it with CBT, I realized that overcoming depression requires a process-oriented mindset. The question that resonated with me the most was:
👉 What is one simple action in my daily life that can
ground me in the moment and also bring me joy?
The answers came naturally:
☕ My ritual of making a good cup of coffee
📸 Photographing people and capturing their essence
💬 Engaging in conversations, listening, and learning from different stories
Today marks the first day of spring here in the Northern Hemisphere. I couldn’t think of a better moment to let a new idea bloom. And that’s how Camera Coffee Chat was born.
The question I asked myself is the same one I’ll ask my guests—or even strangers on the street. The goal? To slow down, be present, and appreciate the small experiences that unite us all in one universal pursuit: happiness, in our own unique way.
🌿 Welcome to Camera Coffee Chat.
